Is your coat closet a nightmare? Is your foyer so crowded with boots that you forget what color the floor is? It may be time for some entryway and mudroom clutter control tips!

Anyone who lives in a winter climate knows that piles of jackets, scarves, mittens, hats, boots, umbrellas, etc. can explode into chaos in crowded mudrooms.

TIP #1: Don't save the front coat closet just for guests. It's useless to have an empty closet at the front of the home when the back hall closet is brimming.

Try categorizing your outerwear -- into formal (good wool coats, nice raincoats, etc.) and casual -- or his and hers -- or kids and adults. Then hang one category in the front hall closet and put the others in the back hall closet.
